This article analyzes the nature, structure and importance of period costs and their components, in particular, selling expenses and administrative and management expenses, in the activities of the enterprise. Ways to optimize period costs, modern methods of reducing them, and scientific and methodological foundations of management based on regulatory documents are highlighted.
