TEACHING ENGLISH IN UZBEKISTAN: THE ROLE OF LOCAL CONTEXT IN SHAPING METHODS

The teaching of English in Uzbekistan has undergone significant transformation in recent decades, shaped by political, social, and educational reforms. While global English teaching methodologies have been introduced, local context—such as cultural norms, linguistic background, and institutional limitations—continues to influence how these methods are applied. This paper explores how the unique Uzbek context affects English language instruction, highlighting the importance of contextualized teaching approaches. The research draws on academic studies, teacher experiences, and policy analysis to show that adapting methods to local needs leads to more effective and sustainable English language education
