Care of the Digestive Organs in the Elderly: A Clinical and Geriatric Perspective

Aging is associated with physiological and functional changes in the digestive system, which may lead to a variety of gastrointestinal disorders in elderly individuals. This article aims to analyze the structural and functional changes of the gastrointestinal tract in old age and provide strategies for maintaining optimal digestive health. Through a literature review and clinical observation, common conditions such as constipation, dyspepsia, gastroesophageal reflux, and malabsorption were identified as prevalent among the elderly.
