UZBEK WOMEN ON THE HOME FRONT DURING WORLD WAR II: BASED ON ARCHIVAL DOCUMENTS

This study explores the role of Uzbek women in the labor front during World War II (1941–1945), based on archival documents, governmental reports, and periodicals of the time. With millions of men conscripted into the Red Army, women in Uzbekistan stepped into traditionally male-dominated fields such as agriculture, industry, and public administration. The article highlights both their contributions and challenges, offering a critical analysis of Soviet wartime propaganda and the lived experiences of Central Asian women. Archival materials provide a more nuanced understanding of gender roles, patriotism, and labor mobilization in wartime Uzbekistan.
