По данным эпидемиологических исследований, распространённость нарушений функции щитовидной железы среди женщин в 5–10 раз превышает таковую у мужчин. Гормоны щитовидной железы оказывают системное влияние на организм, участвуя в регуляции метаболических процессов, репродуктивной функции и гормонального гомеостаза. Молочные железы являются высокочувствительным гормонозависимым органом, функциональное состояние которого определяется сложным взаимодействием эстрогенов, прогестерона, пролактина и тиреоидных гормонов.
