abstract: Bilingualism offers numerous cognitive benefits that extend beyond the ability to communicate in multiple languages. This article explores the profound effects of bilingualism on problem-solving skills and creativity. Research indicates that bilingual individuals exhibit enhanced cognitive flexibility, which enables them to approach problems from multiple perspectives. This heightened adaptability is attributed to their frequent practice in switching between languages and managing linguistic interference, which strengthens executive functions such as attention control and task-switching.Additionally, bilingualism fosters divergent thinking, a core component of creativity, by promoting openness to new ideas and alternative ways of thinking. The cognitive advantages of being bilingual are not limited to intellectual pursuits but also contribute to improved social interactions and decision-making. This investigation highlights the significant role bilingualism plays in shaping a dynamic and innovative mindset, offering valuable insights into the interplay between language proficiency and cognitive development.
