This article explores the profound impact of the period, focusing on three major aspects: the Great Vowel Shift, which altered vowel pronunciation and contributed to the transition from Middle to Early Modern English; the standardization of English grammar and spelling, driven by the advent of printing and the rise of literacy; and the enrichment of vocabulary through extensive borrowing from Latin, Greek, and other sources. Additionally, the era's literary achievements, notably those of William Shakespeare, played a crucial role in expanding and refining English usage.
