abstract: This article explores the classification of sentences according to their purpose of expression, focusing on four main types: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory. Each type is defined and explained with examples, highlighting its unique role in communication. Declarative sentences convey information or facts, interrogative sentences ask questions, imperative sentences issue commands or requests, and exclamatory sentences express strong emotions. The article emphasizes the practical applications of these sentence types in various contexts, such as writing, speaking, and engaging in dialogue. Two conclusions are provided, reinforcing the importance of understanding and using these sentence types to enhance clarity, emotional depth, and effective communication.
