TI  - EPIDEMIOLOGY AND RISK FACTORS OF THYROID DISEASES IN SCHOOL-AGE GIRLS (REGIONAL CROSS-SECTIONAL ANALYSIS)
N2  - To determine the prevalence, epidemiological structure and main risk factors of thyroid diseases among school-age girls (10?17 years) in Fergana region. Materials and methods. In 2022?2023, 246 schoolgirls were examined based on a stratified random sample. Thyroid volume was measured using ultrasonography; TTG, eT3, eT4 and anti-TPO levels were determined. Urinary iodine content was studied using ICP-MS. Independent risk factors were identified using multivariable logistic regression. Results. Thyroid pathology was detected in 76.0% of participants (n=187). The median urinary iodine was 62.4 ?g/L (IQR 38.1?84.7), which corresponds to moderate iodine deficiency. Independent risk factors: iodine-rich food deficiency (NR 3.41; 95% CI 2.18?5.34), familial predisposition (NR 2.87; 95% CI 1.76?4.69), environmentally disadvantaged area (NR 2.14; 95% CI 1.31?3.49), and psychosocial stress (NR 1.93; 95% CI 1.22?3.05). Conclusion: More than three-quarters of school-age girls in Fergana region have thyroid pathology. Universal iodine supplementation, mass screening, and targeted health programs should be urgently implemented.
