The study highlights the primary functions of punctuation–segmentation, boundary-setting, and emphasis/indication. Examples demonstrate how punctuation marks such as commas, periods, dashes, exclamation points, and question marks influence sentence structure and meaning. The historical development, functional features, and stylistic variations of punctuation across languages are also discussed.
