%X Cultural awareness plays a critical role in the development of writing proficiency, particularly in multilingual and multicultural educational environments. This study explores the relationship between students’ cultural awareness and their academic writing development in tertiary education. Drawing upon contemporary theories in intercultural communication, second language acquisition, and sociocultural pedagogy, the research investigates how culturally informed instruction influences coherence, argumentation, and linguistic accuracy in students’ writing. A mixed-method study involving 120 undergraduate students in Uzbekistan revealed that integrating cultural awareness into writing instruction significantly improves not only linguistic outcomes but also students’ empathy, critical reflection, and ability to write for diverse audiences. The paper concludes with pedagogical implications for language instructors and curriculum designers aiming to foster more inclusive and effective writing education.
