abstract: This article explores the evolution and current state of translation and translation studies, emphasizingtheir role in cross-cultural communication, globalization, and intercultural understanding. Drawingon functionalist theories, descriptive paradigms, and critical perspectives such as postcolonialtranslation theory, the study demonstrates how translation extends beyond linguistic transference toencompass cultural, ethical, and ideological dimensions. It highlights the growing importance of thetranslator as an agent and the need for context-sensitive approaches in theory and practice.
