N2  - A simple, fast, accurate, and economical spectrophotometric method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of rutin and quercetin isolated from Sophora Japonica L. flower buds. Since rutin and quercetin show maximum absorbance at 258 nm and 374 nm, respectively, absorbance measurements were taken at these wavelengths for their determination. Rutin and quercetin obey the Beer-Lambert law within the concentration range of 1-10 µg/ml. This method can be adopted for the routine simultaneous determination of rutin and quercetin.
