N2  - Dental prosthetics represent one of the most enduring intersections between medicine, technology, and human concern for function and appearance. From primitive tooth replacements in ancient civilizations to highly sophisticated implant-supported prostheses in modern dentistry, the development of dental prosthetics reflects both technological innovation and evolving cultural attitudes toward oral health and aesthetics. This article examines the historical progression of dental prosthetics through archaeological findings, historical records, and medical literature. By analyzing materials, fabrication techniques, professional roles, and social meanings associated with dental prostheses across different periods, the study demonstrates that prosthetic dentistry evolved in response to functional necessity, social identity, and scientific advancement. The findings highlight the cumulative nature of prosthetic knowledge and underscore the importance of historical perspective in understanding contemporary prosthodontics.
