HISTORICAL ASPECTS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TERM AND DOCTRINE OF «INTRODUCTION».

Plants are multifunctional organisms in the biosphere. Due to climatic conditions and the ecological situation, flora is not evenly distributed across the globe. Some plants are disappearing, while others have long been absent from the flora. This outcome leads to a profound imbalance in the natural environment. Plant introduction is one of the important directions in the field of flora conservation. This article presents the results of a literature review on studies concerning the origin of the term and the science of plant introduction. From antiquity, when people unconsciously engaged in the introduction of plant organisms, to the present time, in which introduction is a science. A brief description of the term 'introduction' and related meanings is given. An overview of scientists who made significant contributions and are associated with the development of the study of introduction. Beginning with the founder of the term 'introduction', A. Humboldt, who proposed a method for introducing plant organisms. Hypotheses and views of scientists in the formation of the term 'introduction'. Various methods for introducing plant organisms used even today.
