EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SINGLE SELECTION METHOD IN CREATING THE NEW “SALOVAT” APRICOT VARIETY

Plant breeding in Uzbekistan is well developed, and in recent years scientific research in the field of fruit crop selection has become increasingly important. In particular, apricot (a stone fruit crop) is distinguished from other fruit crops by its early ripening, high yield, transportability, resistance to cold and drought, and tolerance to various diseases. Under the climatic conditions of our republic, these traits are of great significance, especially in increasing the export potential of apricot products. In this regard, breeding activities aimed at creating new varieties play a decisive role. This article evaluates the biological and economic characteristics of the recently developed apricot variety “Salovot,” which was created through the method of individual (mass) selection and studied under the conditions of the Termiz district of the Surxondaryo region.
